My Azaan Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 20, 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains what data My Azaan collects, how it's used, and your rights regarding it.

My Azaan is built to need as little of your data as possible. It has no account system, no analytics, and no backend of our own. The short version: your location goes to a prayer-time service so it can work out when the prayers fall where you are, and a banner ad at the bottom of the screen is served by Google AdMob. Nothing else leaves your device.

No account required

My Azaan does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal identifying information such as your name, email address, or phone number. There are no logins, passwords, or single sign-on of any kind. The app is free and has no purchases.

What we collect

Location

My Azaan needs to know where you are to calculate prayer times, which depend entirely on your latitude and longitude.

You choose how it learns this. You can search for a city or country, in which case only that place name is used, or you can tap "Use Current Location", which asks iOS for your device's location. Either way the resulting coordinates are sent to the AlAdhan Prayer Times API (aladhan.com) to retrieve the timings for that place.

That request contains the coordinates and the calculation method. It carries no identifier of you or your device, and we operate no server that sees or records it. Your chosen location is then stored on your device so the app knows where you are next time.

App settings

Your location, Fiqh/Madhab, time format, chosen Azaan voice, and your per-prayer notification sound choices — separately for weekdays and weekends — are stored only in your device's local storage. They are not uploaded, backed up to any server we control, or synced across devices.

Prayer times

Once fetched, the year's prayer-time calendar is cached on your device so the app works offline without contacting the API again.

Hadith of the Day

The hadith shown on the Home screen come from a collection bundled inside the app itself. Displaying one involves no network request, and which hadith you were shown is not recorded or transmitted.

Advertising

My Azaan is free, and a single banner ad at the bottom of the screen pays for it. The ad is served by Google AdMob.

Every ad request is explicitly marked non-personalized: My Azaan does not use your device's advertising identifier (Apple's IDFA) or any tracking data to choose which ads you see, and does not build a profile of you. Because no tracking data is requested, we do not show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.

AdMob still processes basic technical data — such as your IP address and general device and app information — in order to serve and measure the ad, under Google's own privacy policy. That processing is Google's, not ours; we never receive it.

Ads are never shown between you and a prayer time. The banner is confined to a fixed strip at the bottom of the screen, and My Azaan shows no full-screen, interstitial, or rewarded ads at all.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or browsing history. We do not use analytics SDKs of any kind. Beyond the non-personalized ad serving described above, we do not track you across apps or websites.

Notifications

My Azaan schedules local notifications for prayer times directly on your device. They are generated on-device by iOS and are never sent through a push notification server — we have no way to send you a notification, and no record of the ones your device shows you.

Third-party service providers

We share the minimum data necessary with the following service providers, under their own respective privacy policies:

Data retention

Children's privacy

My Azaan is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from children. The app collects no personal data from any user regardless of age, and the ads it shows are non-personalized and are not targeted using any data about children.

Your rights

Because your location, settings, and prayer times live only on your device, you can exercise data rights directly: changing your location in Settings replaces it, and deleting the app removes everything. You can also revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → My Azaan, and continue using the app by searching for a city instead.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date above is updated and the current version is published at https://myazaan.awaisk.com/privacy-policy.
